by: Luis Espiritu Jr
(01/06/13 Multiple Choice, Allure, The Philippine Star)

The start of every year presents new beginnings — even in fashion.

 Ann Andres

Irene Subang

With an ever-changing scene, creations spring from brimming ideas, beautiful patterns with a thousand threads that are spun together to create outstanding pieces.

 Tippi Sy

Majesty de Castro

Inspiration thrives in the mind of a creator, the genius behind every artistic and ingenious thought that comes to life through a masterpiece — the designer.

 Karen Castro

Arianne Tonda

In the Philippines, the School of Fashion and the Arts (SOFA) headed by Amina Aranaz-Alunan is a cradle where new and aspiring designers are born. They dream of making it in the local industry and later on the world.  Just recently, the creative institution has presented its Batch of 2012 graduates, namely:  Florian Trinidad, Dan Concepcion, Samantha Mendiola, Karen Castro, Arianne Tonda, Keena Tria, Pristine de Guzman, Majesty de Castro, Tippi Sy, Irene Subang and Ann Andres.

Philippine fashion is indeed hopeful as it is constantly evolving and forming an industry of endless talent. More and more names will be proclaimed as the country continuously produces, promotes and optimistically supports outstanding talent. Where global fashion is endlessly in search of the next big thing all over the world, there will always be Filipinos who will absolutely make the mark.
